Welcome to Mash Valley Bed & Breakfast located in the heart of the Somme Battlefields in the village of La Boisselle.

« It was in 1979 that my father first introduced me to the 1914-18 theatre of war, an experience I have never forgotten. Since then many subsequent trips were made and each one would have memorable experiences. When we left the autoroute at Bapaume it was a feeling of coming home, something that has never left me to this day.

During these trips, my father with boundless enthusiasm would seek to quench his thirst for knowledge of what went on where, I on the other hand sometimes quenched my thirst elsewhere.

Eventually after much encouragement from family and friends, he went on to co-author the book "Sheffield City Battalion", which was first published in 1989.
In 1994 my wife, Lynda accompanied us to make her first visit and has been every time thereafter. We had loosely talked about coming to live here to fulfil my dream and in 2004 it became a reality and we bought the house in La Boisselle which was to become "Mash Valley" bed and breakfast. »
